DESIGN

Structural steel is one of the most versatile materials in the construction industry, with near endless possibilities when designed correctly. As such, Mikab invests heavily to ensure the technical capacity in steel design to achieve the endless possibilities of application of steel design.

What We Do

Structural steel design, is part of structural engineering fields at Mikab used to design steel structures applicable to ware- houses, bridges, commercial centers, tall buildings, schools, houses and complex structures and shells.

How We do it

We commonly employ the two methods of steel design: The Allowable Strength Design (ASD) method and the Load and Resistance Factor Design (LRFD) method. In both using a strength, or ultimate level design approach

What We cover:

Our Structural engineers while analyzing, and designing various steel structures cover some of (but not limited to) the following:

  • Various types of steel sections available on the relevant market

  • Area Design Considerations

  • Design of structural members: Flexural, Compression & Tension members

  • Design for Bolts & Welds

  • Design of Connecting Elements, hear Connections, Flexure Moment Connections, Fully Restrained (FR) Moment Connections, Bracing Connections and Truss Connections

  • Design of Beam Bearing Plates, Column Base Plates, Anchor Rods, and Column Splices

  • Design of Hanger Connections, Bracket Plates, and Crane-Rail Connections

  • Code of Standard Practice for Structural Steel Buildings and Bridges
